Painting is self-discovery.

I don’t always start with an idea when I paint. Sometimes I’m facing a blank canvas with clean brushes at my side. What typically moves me towards my colors and strokes can vary. It may be based on the emotions I feel at that point in time. Sporadically I am influenced by the music I’m listening to or what I hear within my environment at the time. Occasionally it may even be something I remembered visually impacting me that day.

I like to portray historical and famous artists by using their influence and techniques. I then embed my own twist or version within my own piece. Basing my choice of compliment artists on how they can relate to my overall painting and it’s meaning. Some of the painters that impact my work are Henri Matisse, Georgia O’Keeffe, Piet Mondrian and Roy Lichtenstein. Below are some of those pieces.
