Brand Identity

It all begins with an idea.

Creating the visual animation to accompany my very own portfolio site, I wanted to stay true to not only what depicts my personality with the effects but also displaying my creative passion for typography and font variations. I enjoy most working with graffiti-esque fonts or 3D lettering giving the open possibility to attach more to the formation, such as animations, backgrounds, etc.

wXsted (“WAST-ED”) is a new and upcoming digital identity in the emerging NFT market OpenSea.

wXsted defines itself as a representation for those who were hardly ever taken seriously or taken too seriously, artistically, professionally or even personally. Utilizing many art form approaches with satire mockery, wXsted designs work representing those judged for thinking, doing or creating things deemed impossible and a squandering of talents. This entity is an activist for those continuously criticized for “wasting” their time.

Working on this brand was my contribution to something that is not only personally relatable but also bringing awareness on what divides us from ourselves and our niche, the opinions of others. The only way to stay true to yourself and the things you put out into the world is not giving a F*CK sometimes. It might be a waste of time or talents to others but if it means any damn thing to you, you owe it to yourself to drive through the “societal criticism bs”. For the sake of entertaining the thoughts of other’s, is the real waste of your time.

I started by coordinating color palettes based off of a CMYK influence. This allowing an ambience that grabs a viewer’s eye abruptly while emulating effervescence. Utilizing a unicorn as the brand mascot really united the values and intent. The unicorn can be defined as being only an imaginable or impossible mythical creature, yet perceived as rare and unique. This creating a relatable connection to the brand’s audience. In staying true to the identity and what it means, I designed a unicorn crashing through a brick wall obstacle. Ultimately illustrating motivational perseverance to push past those barriers, critics, naysayers, limitations and continue “wasting”.

Parks & Rec.

Elkhorn, WI Parks and Recreation have a mission and partnership with the community to provide safe and enjoyable recreational opportunities for it’s citizens. They strive to foster life-long learning and encourage new activities to enhance their community.

In 2014 the Elkhorn Parks and Recreation department set out to rebrand their logo identity. Looking for a minimalist approach in typography and a color palette reflecting the natural essence of being at the park.
